Day 36 … San Antonio, TX

This morning, we awoke to the sound of a Ranger’s voice, “G’Morning.  There’s no camping here, you folks need to pack thing up.”  By 7:30 AM, the camping gear was back in the car and we were ready for the day.  Today, we would visit the town in which Matt was born and spent the first few years of his life, San Antonio, TX.

Our first stop of the day was at The Alamo.  We toured the historic area, watched an informational video about the famous battle, and walked through the gardens.  Before returning to the car to feed the meter, we stopped at the Visitor’s Center to get a map and information about the city.

Next, we decided to take the River Walk through the Shopping and Dinning District.  We stopped for lunch at a small Mexican restaurant.  The food was great and only cost $15 for both of us including tip.  As we walked off our full bellies, we admired the shops and restaurants along the River Walk.  We took a few more photos of The Alamo before hitting the road for New Orleans, LA.

For dinner, we stopped at Hinze’s BBQ in Sealy, TX.  We shared the regular dinner combo with ribs, pork, macaroni salad, onion rings, and mashed potatoes and gravy.  The over-priced dinner plate could have better.
