Day 21 … Lake Tahoe and Reno, NV

Matt woke up at 7:00 AM and let me sleep in until 7:30 AM.  We made our way to the restrooms and Visitor’s Center to see what we wanted to do with our time on the lake.  After speaking with the Ranger, we decided to throw on our bathing suits and make our way to the beach for a few hours.

There was only one other man on the beach when we arrived.  We set up our towels and attempted to go swimming, but the water hadn’t warmed up yet.  After laying in the sun for awhile, we were both hot enough to get into the water.  Eventually, Matt went completely under the water, but Danielle only made it in up to her waist.

By 11:30 AM, we were leaving the beach and heading in to the town of Tahoe.  We stopped at a Farmer’s Market in the middle of town and bought some cheese, a pork tamale, some fruit, and the most appetizing basket of assorted cherry tomatoes.

Next, we headed towards Reno, NV.  On our way, we stopped at a state park overlooking the lake.  We took a small trail down to the water.  There were huge boulders all around and the water looked so clear that we had to jump in.  It was cold at first, but it was a blast.

Matt and Danielle jumped into Lake Taheo off these rocks. The water is so clear and refreshing, definetly a good time.

When we arrived in Reno, NV we stopped at and In-N-Out Burger for lunch (at this point, I think we are officially addicted to the fresh potato fries!).  As we drove through the “Biggest Little City in the World”, we decided to stop in at a few casinos.  Our first stop was at the Peppermill Casino where they offered to match any losses we incurred in the first hour with Free Slot Play.  After a few rounds of free drinks, Danielle was up $3 and Matt was almost even.  Next, we made our way across the street to the Atlantis.  Here, we were invited to spin a virtual wheel to determine how much Free Slot Play we would get after signing up for their Player’s Club.  Danielle found a lucky Enchanted Lamp slot machine and left with more free money.  Matt stuck with the Texas Tea slot Machine and also made a few bucks.

Next, we drove in to the heart of Reno.  The Silver Legacy Casino was our first stop.  Here we got to enter a Free Slot Tournament for signing up for the Player’s Club.  At El Dorado Casino, we got to swipe our new Player’s Cards for a chance to win prizes.  Both Matt and I won a pen.  Fitzgerald’s was one of my favorite casinos because they handed us each $5 cash for signing up, plus a free breakfast buffet for showing a Player’s Card from a different casino.  Cal Neva did not offer any incentives for signing up, so Matt didn’t bother to get another card.  Our last casino of the night was Harrah’s.  At Harrah’s, we were given $10 to use at the slot machine (which we each cashed out immediately), a deck of Harrah’s cards, lucky beads, and a coupon for $20 in Free Slot Play at the Harrah’s in Lake Tahoe.  We slept in the parking garage of the Silver Legacy that night.
